NGN Fiber Update at Dawson County Chamber of Commerce

July 14, 2011

North Georgia Network

I had a great time speaking today at the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce about the North Georgia Network’s progress deploying a new fiber optic network through 12 north Georgia counties! NGN has deployed over 155 miles of fiber to date, and will complete the 260-mile “core” fiber route by November 2011.

It was a terrific group, with 54 in attendance, at a wonderful venue, the Lakeview Center (http://lakeviewcentercomplex.com/).  See my presentation here: NGN Fiber Update Dawson County Chamber of Commerce

Dawson County understands the need for ultra-high-speed fiber optic networking (100Gb and faster) for sustainable economic development in the 21st century. Four Dawson County schools and the county office are already connected with new NGN dark fiber, four more to be added over the next six months, and a ‘lit’ fiber connection coming in November that can scale to 10Gb and beyond.
